Pawnbroker Investigation

Getman, Sweeney & Dunn is investigating pawn shops for underpaying their workers. Pawnbrokers are often paid an hourly rate, plus bonuses or commissions. Under the law, usually a bonus or commission must be part of the worker’s overtime rate. But some companies don’t follow the law, and workers are underpaid. Also, pawnbrokers may suffer time-shaving violations. For example, managers may force workers to clock out for breaks of 20 minutes or less. But workers should be paid for this time.

If you worked as a pawnbroker in the past 3 years and would like to share your story as part of our investigation, we’d like to hear from you.
