Fernanda Mejia McKenzie

Marist College B.A. in Political Science 2022 Marist College, Paralegal Certificate 2022

As the daughter of immigrants from Mexico and El Salvador, I grew up witnessing my parents’ tireless efforts to provide for our family, often working long hours to meet our basic needs. From an early age, the value of education was instilled in me, emphasizing its power to create a better future. With deep gratitude for their sacrifices and in honor of all immigrants whose dreams were left unrealized, I became the first in my family to graduate from college, driven by a commitment to create meaningful change.

Today, I am proud to work at Getman, Sweeney, and Dunn where I have the privilege of standing up for workers whose voices often go unheard. It is an honor to fight for fairness and justice, ensuring that every worker has the opportunity to be treated with dignity and respect.

Fernanda Mejia McKenzie graduated from Marist College with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a paralegal certificate. Fluent in Spanish, she combines strong communication skills with a dedication to serving diverse communities. Fernanda has always been passionate about making a difference in the lives of others through her work.
After college, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she cared for individuals with compassion and dedication. Following her time in healthcare, she transitioned to the legal field, working at a bankruptcy law firm, where she gained valuable experience and insight into that area of law.
Driven by a desire to pursue meaningful work, Fernanda is now more aligned with the path she has always envisioned for herself. With a deep commitment to advocating for others, she hopes to further her career by attending law school in the future and continuing to make a positive impact through her work.
