Rebecca King
Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, J.D. (Summa Cum Laude) 2018
State University of New York at New Paltz, B.A. Sociology with Criminology Concentration (Summa Cum Laude) 2014
Growing up I was taught the value of hard work, and just as importantly, the value of being treated with respect and dignity in the workplace. For many workers, their jobs take on a role beyond simply generating income. Work provides people with purpose and meaning and when workers are mistreated, the impact is felt throughout all aspects of their lives. It takes a certain amount of fortitude for workers to stand up to their employer in the face of injustice. As an attorney at Getman, Sweeney & Dunn, I have the privilege to stand with working people and fight for the wages and respect they are owed.
Rebecca King joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2020. Before joining the firm, she practiced as a public criminal defense attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Orange County, NY, representing indigent individuals charged with misdemeanors and felonies in local criminal courts. Ms. King graduated first in her class from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 2018. During law school, she represented low-income immigrants on a full spectrum of immigration matters as a student attorney in Pace’s Immigration Justice Clinic. She also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Laura Taylor Swain, United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York. While in law school, the Pace Law Review published Ms. King’s submission that examined New York State’s failure to adequately fund public criminal defense offices. Ms. King is a recipient of the Merit Scholarship Award, Catalyst Service Fellowship, and the White Plains Bar Association Ethics and Professionalism Award.
